What are the effects of drinking Whiskey, to get drunk and then taking tylenol pm? My brother in law drinks like a fish then takes tylenol pm at nite to sleep, i dont want anything to happen to him so does anybody know what can happen to him?? minor and major things please, im going to show him this posting so please good answers that will help him to stop what he is doing

Justice replied: "The whiskey is killing his liver, and taking the Tylenol is making it 10 times worse. BOTH are very damaging to the liver, especially when taken together. He won't listen though. He'll stop when he wants to, or gets the rude wake up call that makes him choose between living or dying."

Is it bad to take Tylenol PM and drink beer? I've been having a hard time sleeping so last night i took like 3 tylenol pm pills and had 1 beer.(I orignally only took 1 but it wasn't doing anything) is that bad for you? oh yeah, btw i'm 14. I've never slept better I feel really good today.

Cydney replied: "Alcohol and Tylenol hit the liver pretty hard, so long-term you could do liver damage. Alcohol will only intensify the effect of any medication you take."

Nicole replied: "It is dangerous to mix alcohol with any sleeping aid, no matter how much it is. You shouldn't be drinking at 14 either. And if you are having sleeping problems at 14 you need to see a physician, it could be something serious."

Jane replied: "It won't kill you, but yes. Tylenol (anything with Acitamenophen actually) is hard on your kidneys and liver, as is alcohol. Don't make it a habit,."

I[<3]JoeJonas. replied: "Well you shouldn't drink any alcohol after taking any medication from what I've heard .."

Master_Mast replied: "Everyone is gonna say it's wrong, but fact is 99% of the public acts like they are perfect and yet they are on drugs. prescriptions, over the counter for this or that and of course alcohol, so yea it's not the best solution and seeing a Doc to find out why your having trouble sleeping ( what you eat when you eat effects sleep etc) but until then do what works."

jstransky replied: "one beer? dont worry about it. even many beers, dont worry about it,, just dont make it a habbit,"

dardarzene replied: "doing it once...not so bad....but mixing those can be bad for your liver, but then again taking a lot of tylenol is bad for your liver too. Just be careful drinking at such a young age. I am not going to tell you not to do it, but in order for alcohol to keep having the same effect, you will have to drink more and more because your body will build up a tolerance. You don't won't to be an alcoholic at age 14."

jenijaz replied: "Read the label. Most medications advise that you NEVER mix with alcohol. If you are drinking beer at 14 to get to sleep, it won't be long before you drink it to mellow out or any occasion. I highly recommend you give that habit up. If you are already taking Tylenol PM on a regular basis to fall asleep at night, maybe you are doing the wrong things at night to prepare for sleep. Rather than relying on the medication, try a hot bath, reading a book, warm milk....those kinds of things. If your brain is overworked, or busy--sleep can become an impossible thing, so the above suggestions also soothe a worried mind/body. I'm assuming you've already eliminated caffeine from your diet after a given time each evening as well. If not, then I would start there...no caffeine after dinner is a good goal to start with. Talk to your folks, seriously. Ask them for their advice, and perhaps a trip to the doctor."

pjcat77 replied: "Actually tylenol is really bad for you liver if combined with alcholol. If you have trouble sleeping use benadryl alone as a sleep aid. Its the same ingredient but no tylenol."

yash replied: "Because alcohol is a depressant, any depressant drug will increase the effects of alcohol by as much as 10 times. In addition, many other drugs can interact with alcohol in unpredictable ways. For example, aspirin, when mixed with alcohol, may cause damage to the stomach lining, decreasing blood clotting and resulting in internal bleeding. In addition, acetomyophin (i.e., Tylenol), when mixed with alcohol, can cause permenant liver damage. Tylenol Pm has a sleeping medication in it.Sleeping pills, much like alcohol, act as a depressant. Sleeping pills are made to make your body feel relaxed and to make you feel drowsy enough to want to go to sleep. These sleeping pills are also made for you to be able to sleep at least 8 hours of rest.Mixing alcohol and sleeping pills can be a somewhat horrible mix. Because both of these pills are depressants, they can cause some serious side effects if they are taken at the same time. When they are taken together, they cause your body to relax more than it really should. This means that your breathing drastically is slowed down. This is bad because the less oxygen gets to your blood cells the more your blood pressure drops. Your blood pressure dropping can lead to a number of things that will be quite harmful for your body. If you stop breathing for long enough, it could put your body into a coma. The lack of air entering your body will eventually begin to affect the performance of your organs. If you are not taken care of immediately once your body is put into a coma, it is very likely that you will die due to lack of oxygen and a number of other things. if you can't sleep at night , try excersising during the day , eating well and start winding down from the day 2 hrs before you want to go to sleep."

Savvy replied: "Very wrong. 1) YOU are entirely too young to be drinking beer. 2) NEVER mix alcohol and medicine. 3) You took more than the recommended dosage of the Tylenol PM. Alcohol and Tylenol are very hard on the liver. AND the combined sedation effects of the benedryl and beer could be catastrophic. Please seek help for your problem."

jordan b replied: "yes. That's a lot for the body to take all at one time."

Sidney replied: "ya its bad"

Josh T replied: "yes it's bad to mix any medication with alcohol expecially sleaping pills"

ernst m replied: "No no no no. This is for all the drama queens and would be suicidal ding-a -lings out there. Tylenol is a monster on your liver. Tylenol ODs dont die of the overdose but they do lose their liver, I mean not that fast but you get the idea. You don't get on a transplant list either if you did it to yourself either. Drinkin beer at 14? Awesome. What was keeping you awake? One of your kids crying? Or did one of your boyfriends customers stop by kinda late to score a teener? Oh wait, you were stressed about that big GED test huh? You won't get the fry-cook spot w/o it. Do you see where I'm going with this? Take it from a guy who trashed his own life from word go and took all kinds of folks w/ him. Get your act together."

Haley replied: "well stop! Its stupid to drink before you 18 and mixing with any type of meds. could mess you heath up so bad you most likely die before you're 35."

is it bad to drink tylenol pm everyday? i feel depressed and all i want to do is sleep.? the only thing that can calm me down is drinking Tylenol pm when i feel sad, depressed or mad, i feel like sleeping because that's the only way i can feel better. i try working out to distract my mind of thinking about my ex but it seems impossible i really want to be happy and get over him, one of my good friends is leaving, i just feel alone all the time with a few friends and no boyfriend i dont know my life is really hitting rock bottom right now..help please?

Caroline replied: "watch my new videos :"

grotereber replied: "Yes, using Tylenol PM is bad. You will become dependent on it for sleep."

dollfacemarcy replied: "I know just how you must feel. I use a stronger sleepling pill, but it's the same thing. The only thing is that now I can't sleep on my own now. I guess I'm dependent on it. and of course i need stronger and stronger doses. But that's not how you're going to get over him. Try internet dating. Just getting some emails from new men is exciting and it will take your mind off other things. That's what I did - and now I'm engaged."

Kay K replied: "You need to talk out the problems you are feeling with a close friend, family member or a counselor. This will help you see another viewpoint and move on to the next phase of your life. Tylenol PM is not the worst thing but it is not good to take it all the time."

tori replied: "taking drugs like that on a daily basis is bad especially your liver. Are you depressed or are you lonely? I know it is easy enough for me to say cheer up but I know it is easier said than done. When you feel rotten. It sounds like you need to talk to someone and let them know how you feel wether it be a good older friend, councillor,or mum. You know its not the end of the world not to have a boyfriend, you will meet someone and I am sure you have many other friends in your life, and I am sure the one who is moving will keep in touch with you ! Have a wonderfull Christmas and go to as many parties and have a great time you never know you might meet someone nice ! Take Care"

ragtad replied: "Like any other medicine your body can become addicted to tylenol pm, it can also become "immune" to a normal dose. Some people accidently, or purposly, overdose on medicines trying to get the same effect that they used to. I don't really think that there are any good sleep meds out there for long term use. Most are addictive or leave you with a hangover the next day. If you are having trouble getting a normal amount of sleep you can try hot milk, warm baths or soft music. But it sounds like to me that you are trying to get way more sleep then you need becuase you are depressed. The sleep isn't solving any of your problems it is only delaying you having to face them. I understand that you are upset about your ex, but do you really think you are going to find another boyfriend if you are in bed all the time. Chances are you have more friends then you realize right now because you are depressed. That oftem happens, you feel alone. This is were you have to make a decission. If your feelings of depression have lasted longer than two weeks or are reoccuring then you may want to seek professional help. This may also be normal "feeling low because I broke up with my boyfriend" kind of thing as well. If you really feel that is the case then you may just want to give yourself some time. Maybe watch your favorite movies or eat a tub of ice cream. Hey, why not do both. While your at it invite some friends over and share."

Smartassawhip replied: "It sounds like you need to get some professional help with how to deal with painful emotions. It's possible that you might be depressed but you haven't shared enough info for me to tell. Going to sleep to deal with painful emotions is what is called an "ineffective coping skill". It is ineffective, because it gets rid of the painful emotions for a short time, but it doesn't deal with their underlying causes, so that the painful emotions come back! What you have to learn is some effective coping skills and look at the underlying causes of the feelings. A good counselor can help you with that. You may think that the underlying cause is your friend leaving and the break up of you and your ex, but there might be more,. For example, if you are telling yourself that you are "worthless", "people keep leaving me", "no one will ever love me", and/or "I'm doomed to live alone the rest of my life alone", etc.; then it is those thoughts that are part of the under lying causes. The Tylenol PM is not addicting. If it is the plain Tylenol PM, the only thing in it besides Tylenol is diphenhydramine, which is just an antihistamine that has a side effect of making people sleepy. Make sure that you don't exceed the recommended dose on the bottle and only use it at bed time. If you are having thoughts of suicide then you need to see a doctor right away! If you are having trouble sleeping at night you might need an antidepressant to help you with that. I hope that something that I have said may be helpful."

Jo replied: "You are self medicating and that can be very dangerous. For one thing some OTC drugs can have bad side effects and damage organs when taken on a regular basis. See a doctor who can help you find what works best for you and what is safe for you to take. Oftentimes anti-depressants are used for a matter of months to help a person work through grief that is that overwhelming. In the meantime, seek out some support groups that may be able to help you. Oftentimes a good therapist can point you in the direction of what is available in your area."

tweetiesbabe07 replied: "Yea it is bad to do that. You should tell your doctor your feeling that way so they can get you help. Also your starting to become dependant to that stuff and you shouldn't do that. Talk to a doctor soon!!!"

what can you eat or drink with Tylenol PM to get you more sleepy? im trying to go to sleep using tylenol Pm but what can u eat or drink with it other than alcohol to get u more sleepy

JADE WIND replied: "Sleepytime tea, or warm milk helps."

♣JaymatiK 2.0 ™² replied: "drink some Nyquil!"

prana_devi replied: "Warm milk, or chamomile tea. There are also teas that you can get a health food stores that have several herbs that aid in sleep (such as skullcap, hops, and others) - you may wish to try some of that. Don't take any other chemical substances though!"

Everybody's Favorite replied: "Glass of warm water. Not milk, cause milk will cause Tylenol PM take longer time to absorb."

Can I drink tylenol pm when 5 months pregnant? I drank 2 yesterday! Is it going to harm my baby?

ticktock replied: "No, you aren't supposed to. Ask your doctor for a list of things you can and can't take while pregnant. That really helped me out."

farmergirl100904 replied: "Shouldn't you have consulted a doctor BEFORE doing this? My doctor advised me that I should not take anything that has a sleep-aid in it."

coolhandven replied: "I wouldnt exactly drink it. I would take the prescribed dosage though. What do I know, I am a dude..."

happyday the sequel replied: "nope, that would be bad for the baby"

cheyenne replied: "tylenol by itself is safe, but what else is in it??? the best person to ask about medications is the pharmacist at the pharmacy."

fffgel replied: "no, not supposed to"

Stacey J replied: "I wouldn't think that would be good, you really shouldn't take any medication over the counter or prescription before asking your doctor!!!!!!!!! Why risk hurting your baby!!???!!!"

butterflyangel replied: "Yeah, that was not smart.hould not take anything like that when you are pregnant. You should tell you doctor if you are having problems sleeping. Don't take anymore tylenol pm."

its just me replied: "no that is not safe at all. didnt you ask your doc before you took it? just stick to plain old tylenol."

mary g replied: "I asked the nurse at my OB's office and she told me that it was fine once in a while."

Tonka replied: "No way! Your doctor should have given you a list of what medication are okay and not okay. A good rule of thumb while your prego- if your not sure about something, ask your doctor before you do it!!!!!"

shelliew replied: "why would you do something like that without consulting your doctor? No, please don't try that again, if something was to go wrong and you thought about something you should not have done, it will be too late."

☼♀♥♠♣J.W. ♫♪♦♥ replied: "You can take it during pregnancy but why did you take twice the dose?"

celticfairygoddess replied: "Tylenol PM is completely safe, as long as you do not overdose. Tylenol PM has the same ingredients in it as Tylenol and Benedryl. Both of these and Tylenol PM are on my list of safe medications given to by my OB. I even double checked with her and googled it and all resports come back the same. Its perfectly safe in normal doses. But when in question, ALWAYS consult your OB BEFORE you take the medication."

TinaB replied: "always consult your doctor and pharmacist for a 2nd opinion before taking any medication."

i drank tylenol PM!!!? hey, well i drank some tylenol PM at 7pm because i have school tomorrow and i needed to go to sleep early, do you think i can wake up at 6:15 okay, will the medication wear off or will i be super tired???

Joe D replied: "y would u drink it? ur not gettin up @ 615. thats 4 sure"

itswhatumakeit replied: "YOU MIIGHT HAVE OVERDOSED!!"

? replied: "too late...you will probably be asleep before you see your posts. you should be fine...sleep tight."

Moem replied: "I think you will be just fine."

j00r replied: "I think you'll be fine. Every person is different, but the medicine should wear off after eleven hours of being in your system."

akm81794 replied: "okay but you would have to get 8 or more ours of sleep to not be sleepy in the morning."

Chrys replied: "set your alarm"

mr.slave replied: "yea should be fine"

kelbel084 replied: "You will probably be groggy."

Stephanie C replied: "you should be fine. it usually only lasts for 4-6 hours. however, for me, if i take any kind of sleep aid, im sleepy for like 2 days. it depends on how your body is, but there isnt a whole lot you can do now."

liko replied: "you will be ok I have taken that pill at 11pm and wake up fine at 6 so you will be fine."

Jenga replied: "you will be fine.. just make sure you have your alarm up loud. it might be harder to wake up but once you are awake you will be fine"

ilyy :] replied: "haha it's okay, you'll wake up just fine. if i drink it, it's usually around 9 &i get up at like 530 with no problems. if you're really tired though, then that's just you lol"

Sassy C replied: "If you took it at 7pm generally most meds/sleep aids wear off around 8 hours, get to bed and set a back up alarm just in case. You may be tired through the first part of the day it just depends on how often you take things like this and how your body processes it."

sweetangel13_4_u replied: "you will be fine"

Shannon Letaâ„¢ replied: "You'll be fine. Set a couple of alarms. It's really not that strong. Stop freaking out."

einigkeit99 replied: "tylenol pm doesnt do anything for me."

If I drank a crown royal on the rocks with 2 crushed up tylenol PM in them, what would happen? Would I get sick, get really drunk/fckued up, or get just as drunk as without the 2 tylenol?

Queen of the Universe replied: "A messed up liver."

Sugga replied: "You would take pics of your self like this............. "

JoJo replied: "You'll probably go to sleep"

Cribber replied: "Tylenol plus alchohol = liver failure. Read the bottle. Might not happen first time you do it, but I know personally in real life, not second hand, a guy who took 3 Tylenol and a large glass of wine for genuine back pain and his liver failed and he had to have a transplant. Look it up.. I'm not being bogus."

Esperanza replied: "let's just say you would have no more organs. Aspirin does not get you messed up, PM's make you sleep."

Rabidus replied: "if you aren't sure what will happen, don't you think that is a good indication you shouldn't do it? It sounds like the combination of alcohol and a depressant like a sleeping pill would be a terrible combination. You could experience a drop in heart rate, slowed reaction time, maybe even kill yourself doing something like that. Stay clear of mixing alcohol and depressants like sleep aids. Alcohol is a depressant, which slows your body down, imagine what a sleeping pill would do mixed in with it."

Fly Boy replied: "You would get really, really tired and want to go to bed."

XAVIER g replied: "tylenol and alcohol are not a good combination, not even good for a hangover. Tylenol metabolizes in your liver as does the alcohol. The toxins in your liver reach dangerous levels when alcohol and tylenol are metabolizing at the same time. So stay away from tylenol when drinking."

itsnotatragedy replied: "One drink 2 PM's the worst your looking at is a early night. But by asking the question you probably have no business drinking crown at all, let alone mixing it with Tylenol......try crushing up some hydro's in it :}"

Jesika replied: "You would probably just get really loopy and pass out. I wouldn't push it though, you don't want to stress your liver too much. Don't add the tylenol if your just wanting to get messed up... you'll be better off just having another glass of crown."

quikzip7 replied: "I suspect you might have some hours of rather deep sleep from which you will awake feeling kinda out of it"

bigfootlives replied: "you would be tired. nothing crazy."

Is taking tylenol PM better than drinking myself to sleep ? Or am I just subbing one depressant for another?

R O to the D replied: "stick to the drink.. you wake up hung over but atleast you wake up... sleeping pills just suck!!"

caffsans replied: "yepper you are sorry ,but had to be honest with you"

dtwladyhawk replied: "Actually drinking alot prohibits sleep. It is only in small doses that alcohol is a depressant. I use tylenol pm. It won't kill my liver unless I take a whole bottle."

P*Kitty replied: "well if you are using tylenol pm as a sleeping pill and you dont have physical pain you may as well just take benadryl because that is all it is...."

Little Softy replied: "Either one is not a good thing on a continual basis. Both can have their long term effects on you... liver damage is possible amongst other things like becoming dependant on them. Try some meditation.... try relaxing... try cutting out things like caffeine or just plain old do some excercise before you are due for bed followed by a hot relaxing bath."

jillian replied: "I use tylenol pm also and sometimes with a bud light or two. I find it gives me a deeper sleep and I wake up before my alarm. Good stuff. So maybe I'm in the same boat as you are. Wanna move over a little bit?"

Shirley replied: "Take two Tylenol and attend an AA meeting."

peach replied: "Have you ever tried using white noise to get yourself to sleep. It does work. We use a big box fan all year long. Turn it on high and set it near the bed. That's all you can hear and the sound entrances you off to sleep."

richard t replied: "Do NOT take tyenaol and drink if you want to keep your liver. Don't drink at all if you are taking tylenol! Eating and/or drinking with in a few hours of sleepy time will most likely interupt your sleep. Go to bed to sleep when you are tired. Get up at the same time every day."

is tylenol pm like drinking 2 stiff drinks in a capsule..? is that why the liver problem warnings?

Wendy V replied: "It could be. Depends on how you respond to them and how much it takes for your system to be effected. I mean about the two stiff drinks. About the liver damage warnings, which at first I didn't see, it would be that it effects your liver over a long period of time taking them."

mommachewy replied: "No it is not. The warning about your Liver is because of the Tylenol. Extended use of it can damage your liver. If you take it on a regular basis, you need to have liver tests run."

keltillos replied: "No. The drug typically called tylenol, which is acetaminophen, can be toxic to the liver. Generally, you do not want more than 4 gr per day, as it can build up and damage your liver."

Maddy Jinx replied: "The "PM" part of the Tylenol is Diphenhydramine Hcl, better know as Benadryl."

DRD replied: "Tylenol is very toxic to the liver. They keep thinking about outlawing it in Europe. Sometimes people use it to commit suicide, but a terrible way to die."
